Heritage Year 2018 - Discovering what connects us

“Starry Path/Chemin des étoiles” - a Greater Regional Contribution to the European Heritage Year 2018

The European Commission has declared 2018 the European Year of Cultural Heritage. The focus of the theme year is on the communal and the unifying. Where do we recognize our European heritage in our cities, villages and cultural landscapes? What connects us? What do we want to change? We want to promote awareness of our rich heritage and awaken a willingness to preserve it. This is precisely what the European model project “Starry Path/Chemin des étoiles” contributes to on a large regional scale with the cross-border networking of more than 350 points of reference of medieval architectural culture along the paths of the pilgrims of St. James in parts of Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate as well as Lorraine and Alsace - today and in the future.

Against this background, the European model project was qualified as an official contribution to the European Cultural Heritage Year SHARING HERITAGE 2018 and presented there.
