On May 6, in addition to the former Benedictine abbey church of St. Peter and Paul, the Protestant parish church of St. John in Wissembourg was now also decorated with a stone scallop shell and an accompanying information board.

The origin of the church of St. John dates back to the 7th century and is connected with the foundation of the monastery of Weissenburg. The present appearance of the building is characterized by the Gothic architectural styles of the 13th-15th centuries. In the 15th century, the reformer and humanist Martin Bucer preached in this town church of Wissembourg.

Wissembourg is one of the important stations along the “Starry Path” in Alsace.
